I'm struggling to get the new turbo on. Anyone have advice? I think I'm going to try take all the exhaust manifold studs out, bolt turbo to block loosely then try get the exhaust manifold on. Don't really want to do it this way as removing 10 studs is likely to be a t*at and I'm not even 100% sure ill get the studs back in once turbo is in place. I've tried loosing the manifold off and wiggling the turbo in but I cant seem to get it anywhere near. not to mention getting both gaskets in lined up

Thanks for the concise review. I've looked at a few reviews but I don't remember any of them comparing capacity over a number of cycles and noting that the capacity was improving. Think I'll bite the bullet on a 200ah. The key take away seems to be that the capacity is as stated but maybe due to unbalanced cells that it won't be at a big draw. I only need to run a small car fridge and a few lights and maybe charge phones at the same time so max 10amps so capacity should be ok. I expect dodgy wiring internally but once again at 10 amps.. Even if the capacity is even say 25% off these things are so cheap that it's worth it if I can get a decent life out of them.

How does the other end of the flexi pipe connect to the top of the exhaust manifold?

A really helpful and informative video, I’m an aircraft mechanic who has the hand skills but just lacks the knowledge on the intricacies of such jobs. Had mine off in a couple of hours after watching this video! 🎉

Wrong oil how is the engine and camshaft & lifters

Hi Dan.... I'm Dan also .... And I also have a t5 with a destroyed turbo... I was driving along, all of a sudden the car revved insanely high, thick smoke pummeled out the back, and the car made some hideous noises and stopped, the engine now has no oil in it, and the turbo and pipes are full of oil. I'm hoping it's just the turbo, and I'm gonna attempt this repair, have you got any tips?

Are you not using a shunt? I'm not sure what heaters people are using, but stop being so cheap. I run mine a 12v 10ah tool battery. It uses almost no battery power at all.

Hi Dan! I've been using the 24v version of these packs for some projects and overall I've been very happy with them. The ones I have say 24V 80Ah. I figure it's only really 80% of that (and that was my expectation when I bought them), and they've performed great for the past 8 months or so. How are yours holding up? Did you end up doing that 1-year-in review?

We've had our t5 174 axe for 12/13 years now, bought with 89k and converted to a day van with full width R/R bed, in that time weve changed 2 turbos, one turbo went a month out of warranty ffs, glow plugs not cheap on these as manifold has to come off, egr/manifold clean/de-coke, in tank fuel pump, 2 water pumps, camshaft kit, air-con compressor (i assume they're made from solid gold) 2x pd injectors (again, obviously made from solid gold) 2 months ago finally fitted an expensive pop top (very nice) it repaid us by needing a clutch and a dual mass flywheel, its in there now, got tgem to also investigate a coolant leak when hot....... Hoping it was just going to be another water pump And theyve confirmed the head gaskets leaking on the back of the block 😐, been going to garage for 20 years so trust them and it is what it is, they're nice but can be Utter C..... When they want to be 😔

People get very anal about vw oil , I worked for vw and they used shell helix 5/30 for the t5 , although some on here will argue this , I’ve also ran my own t5 1.9 for 12 years on 5/30 without any issues , vw were very secretly about their oils and what they used , but when the t5 came out in 2003 they used 5/30 shell helix ,

Got rid of the egr on mine they actually impair good running, also took away that silly engine stop diaphragm and noticed no difference without it.
